David B Stillman
          Co E, 5th WI Infantry
 
David Benjamin Stillman was born on January 3, 1824 in Massachusetts but lived the greater part of his life in Long Island, New York.  He came to Wisconsin in 1857 and settled in the town of Freedom, where he lived until after the Civil War when he moved to Grand Chute, WI.  He served in the Civil War and was a member of the G.A.R. Post in Appleton, WI.  He enlisted in Company E, 5th WI Infantry on August 30, 1864 as a Private.  David survived the war the mustered out June 30, 1865.
 
For the last nine years of his life he lived with his son, Henry in Bovina, WI.  David died March 17, 1910 at Bovina, Outagamie, and is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Grand Chute, WI
 
He married Esther H Bennett in 1848.  She was born November 4, 1826 in East Hampton, Suffolk, New York and died March 3, 1892 in Grand Chute.  They had 8 children who all attended his funeral.
